The Challenge
Complex mixed-use building with commercial spaces creating additional heat gains affecting residential units above. Limited opportunities for cross-ventilation in some apartment layouts.
Our Solution
Detailed TM59 analysis was conducted for all residential units with particular attention to apartments above the commercial spaces. We modeled internal heat gains from the commercial units and designed a comprehensive natural ventilation strategy incorporating stack effect ventilation.
Results
All residential units achieved TM59 compliance. Our strategic approach to ventilation design eliminated the need for mechanical cooling, saving the developer approximately £45,000 in installation costs and reducing ongoing energy bills for residents.
