The Challenge
High-rise building with significant solar exposure on all facades. Small studio units with high occupancy density and internal heat gains from appliances. Client required fast-track assessment due to funding deadlines.
Our Solution
Accelerated assessment program with detailed modeling of solar gains, stack effect ventilation, and internal heat loads typical of student accommodation. We optimized window sizing for each facade orientation and designed an automated ventilation control strategy.
Results
Completed comprehensive Part O and TM59 assessment in just 2 weeks. All 120 studios achieved compliance through optimized natural ventilation strategy, avoiding expensive mechanical cooling systems. Estimated saving: £180,000.
