The Challenge
Highly insulated building fabric with large glazing areas created risk of overheating despite excellent energy performance. The terraced configuration limited ventilation options for middle units.
Our Solution
We modeled different ventilation strategies for end and middle terraced units, optimizing window sizes and positions to maximize cross-ventilation. Recommended external blinds for west-facing glazing and adjustable trickle ventilation.
Results
Achieved Part O compliance for all six units. The middle terraced houses required only minor adjustments to window positioning to achieve adequate ventilation. Building Control approved all documentation without queries.
